Spider Robinson (born November Two dozen, 1948 in New York City) is a Canadian science fiction writer.

Robinson is too an admirer of mystery writer John D. MacDonald. Lady Sally McGee from either a Callahan's series is apparently named in honor of Travis McGee, the central character in MacDonald's mystery novels. A lead character within Lady Slings A Booze often refers to Travis McGee as a model. Around ''Callahan's Key the patrons produce a visit to the marina touching Fort Lauderdale where the Busted Dislodge was commonly moored in the McGee series. Likewise significant to Robinson is writer Donald E. Westlake.

His foremost promulgated novel, Telempath'' (1976), was an expansion of his Hugo award-winning novella "By Any Other Name". A 1st edition got handle art by 'Powers'.

Robinson's style can be described when human-centered & humourous. He has oftentimes encouraged the caring attitude towards globe issues, claiming that the pessimistic weltanschauung will help pessimistic resolutions. Often within his writing, the conflicts center as much as the science fiction issue by having a man guide, resulting Theodore Sturgeon's definition of a good science fiction story.
